New Delhi. Star batsman Virat Kohli’s childhood coach Rajkumar Sharma said on Monday that his disciple has set an example by saying goodbye to Test cricket at the peak of his career. Kohli on Monday announced his retirement from the traditional format of the game in which he scored 9230 runs in 123 Test matches with an average of 46.85 with the help of 30 centuries. He will now play only in one day cricket. He retired from T20 International last year. Sharma said that “he has set an example by saying goodbye to Test cricket.” We have often seen that the retirement of our cricketers is not good, but everyone would like to retire like this. He could play a lot of cricket, there is still a lot of cricket left in him. But Virat’s ‘style’ has always been like this. He said, “I will talk to him, but this is his decision.” I appreciate his decision. I salute his contribution to the Indian team and what he did to the country. Kohli has the distinction of being India’s most successful Test captain, who won the team in 40 out of 68 matches. “Everyone knows that when he became the captain, he changed the entire culture of the Indian team, which included the culture of physical fitness to the victory culture abroad.” This is a big contribution. His career was fantastic. I am proud of him.
