A senior officer of the Indian Cricket Board told PTI, “Mukesh wore a number 18 jersey in the first ‘Test’ match against England Lions. But there is no fixed number in the India A team because the jerseys do not have names. Any player can choose any ‘random’ number Jersey number is valid only for international matches.
After Sachin -Dhoni, now Virat?
The Indian team does not officially ‘retire a particular jersey number, but some famous numbers have not been worn by the players who have joined the team later. Once upon a time Shardul Thakur wore a number 10 jersey in a match in Sri Lanka, but sports lovers did not do this and this player had to change his jersey number.
