New Delhi. Under the captaincy of Tamba Bavuma, South Africa defeated Australia in the final of the World Test Championship and captured the title. The work that no one was able to do for South Africa for the last 27 years has been done by Bavuma. Bavuma helped South Africa to win the ICC Trophy after 27 years. Let’s know where Bavuma came from and how he made his place in the African team.

After performing well continuously, Bavuma was made the vice-captain of Lions during the 2013-14 season. Due to his best performance in domestic cricket, he was included in the Test team for the West Indies tour in late 2014. Bavuma scored 10 runs in the first innings of that match. Bavuma caught everyone’s attention when Bavuma made his ODI international debut for South Africa on 25 September 2016 and scored his first ODI century.
On 4 March 2021, Temba Bavuma was appointed the captain of ODI and T20 International in South Africa, replacing Quinton Dickock. He became the first black African to captain the national team in any format. After this, on 17 February 2023, Bavuma was appointed Test captain before the two -match series against the West Indies. He replaced Dean Elgar.
