New Delhi. After the Indian cricket team’s star player Rohit Sharma retired from Test cricket, the whole country was curious to know who would come as the new captain. With the announcement of the team for the series against England, it was confirmed that Shubman Gill would become the new Test captain of the Indian team. After this news came to light, former Indian captain and great batsman Sunil Gavaskar gave some important advice to the new captain.
In a conversation with Sports, Sunil Gavaskar said that there is a big difference between the regular members and captains of the team. He suggested that Shubman Gill should behave so that other players respect him. Captain’s behavior is more important than his performance.
Gavaskar said, “There is always pressure on the player elected captain of India because there is a big difference between being a team member and captain. When you are a member of the team, you usually interact with your close players. When you become a captain, you should behave so that the rest of the players of the team are more important than his performance.”
Shubman Gill’s response
After India became the new Test captain, Shubman Gill said that it is a great respect and responsibility for him to get this role. He also said that he had a dream since childhood to play Test cricket for a long time. Gill said, “It is definitely a little emotional. When a child starts playing cricket, he wants to play for India and not only wants to play, but also wants to play Test cricket for a long time. Getting this opportunity is a great honor and responsibility. I am waiting for this thrilling opportunity and the upcoming series against England.”
