New Delhi. Australia’s star batsman Steve Smith is confident of his return. Smith was injured during a fielding against South Africa in the WTC final. He hopes that he will be able to play in the three -match Test series for Australia on a Caribbean tour against the West Indies. During the final match of WTC, Steve Smith was injured in an attempt to catch Tamba Bavuma. After the ‘Compound Dislocation’, he was sent to the nearest hospital for ‘X-ray’.
Smith said, ‘I was standing close wearing a helmet. Our plan was to stand very close. I could not see the ball due to Mitchell Starc’s bowling angle. It was difficult, the ball did not come in my hand properly. Fortunately there was no fracture in hand. The ball only dispatched the finger, due to which I felt pain for a long time.
Smith injured in Lord’s for the second time
Even before this, Steve Smith has been injured on Lord’s ground. Recalling the old incident, he said, ‘Now I have a relationship of love/hate with this place. I have some good memories here, and some are not good. In 2019, after a head injury from the ball of Jofra (Archer), now my finger disliked. But it is a great place to play cricket. I have enjoyed playing here on this ground.
