New Delhi. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Friday decided to shift the remaining matches of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) to the United Arab Emirates for fear of the ongoing military confrontation with India. Foreign players participating in the tournament are worried about the tense situation between the two countries. The PCB issued a statement on Friday morning saying that the last eight matches of the tournament would be held in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). Earlier they were to be held in Rawalpindi, Multan and Lahore.

According to the statement, the schedule of these matches will be shared on time. PCB president Mohsin Naqvi alleged that India had targeted the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium in a recent attack inside Pakistan to stop PSL. Foreign players no longer want to live in Pakistan, which is why the tournament will be excluded. The history of Pakistan has been such that foreign players do not feel safe.

Terrorists attacked Sri Lanka team bus

How can anyone forget the terrorist attack on the bus of the Sri Lankan cricket team in Pakistan. In early 2009, bullets were fired while going to the stadium on the bus of the team visiting Pakistan. The first Test match played in Karachi from 21 to 25 February was drawn. The second and last match of the series was to be played in Lahore from March 1 to March 5 but Sri Lanka’s team left the tour and returned.

It was the third day of the Test match being played in Lahore when the Sri Lankan team left the bus for Gaddafi Stadium, when a dozen masked terrorists suddenly started firing on the bus. Rocket launcher was also used. Security arrangements were also not confirmed about this, so many players of Sri Lanka were hit by the attack. The then Sri Lankan captain Mahela Jayawardene, Kumar Sangakkara, Ajantha Mendis, Thilan Samaravira, Tharanga Paranvitana and Chaminda Vas were badly injured.

Bus driver showed bravery

At that time, the driver of the bus Mohammad Khalil, showing the understanding and courage, took out the players from death. Amid firing, he took the bus to the stadium for 20 minutes, he kept driving the bus and directly inserted it to the Gaddafi Stadium. In this incident, the injured players were rushed to the airport from the stadium after initial treatment and then the tour was canceled and sent to their country.
