Angelo mathews test retirement: Sri Lankan legendary player Angelo Mathews has announced retirement. The 37 -year -old Mathews announced on May 23, saying that in June, the match against Bangladesh will be the last match of his Test career. The 2 -Test series between Sri Lanka and Bangladesh will start from June 17, in which Mathews will play only the match in Galle.

Angelo Mathews started his Test career against Pakistan in the year 2009 on the Galle ground. Mathews is retiring as the third highest run -scorer for Sri Lanka in Test cricket in a career that lasted for about 17 years. He has scored 8,167 runs in 118 Tests so far. Mahela Jayawardene (11,814) and Kumar Sangakkara (12,400) are ahead of them in terms of scoring the most Test runs for Sri Lanka.

Retirement with passionate message

Angelo Mathews announced his Test retirement by sharing a long message on Instagram. He said, “Playing cricket for Sri Lanka in the last 17 years has been the biggest pride for him. When a player comes on the field wearing a national team’s jersey, the feeling of patriotism and service cannot give anything else.”
