Mohammed Shami’s performance in IPL 2025 was not good. In 9 matches, he could take only 6 wickets and could not curb the pace of runs. He spent 337 runs from an economy of 11.23. In response, Kolkata collapsed for 168 runs. KKR is also out of the playoffs. After winning this match, Hyderabad’s head coach Daniel Vettori supported Shami even after a poor form.
Vetori said in a post match press conference, “Shami had not played T20 cricket for a long time, so it takes time to get back in this format. He became a purple cap winner for Gujarat Titans, has been 18 months and things have progressed very fast since then.”

The coach said, “According to me, when he puts the ball on this length, he is at his best level and perhaps he was not at the level in which we have seen him earlier. It is partly due to being out of the team for a long time. I know that he was desperate to return and perform well, he has worked hard but he was not his work. But he did not have any reason that he could not return.”
Talking about Mohammed Shami’s IPL career, he has played for 5 different teams so far. Prior to this, he has played for Gujarat, Punjab, Delhi and Kolkata. He has taken 133 wickets in 119 matches. He is not even fully fit yet, so he has not been included in the Indian Test Squad for the tour of England.
