New Delhi. The Indian cricket team is currently on a tour of England. After retiring from Rohit Sharma’s Test, Shubman Gill has been chosen as the new Test captain by the selectors. After this decision, now his responsibility has increased even more along with a batsman. Shubman Gill shares a very different bonding with his father Lakhwinder Singh. He is not only his father, but also his first coach. After being elected to the Indian team’s Test captain, Shubman Gill told about his first reaction.
Gill will start his Test captaincy for India in Leeds against England on 20 June. He recently asked about his father’s response by former wicketkeeper-batsman Dinesh Karthik in an interview for Sky Sports. This Punjab batsman told that both of them had never dreamed of this honor, but after their appointment there was a very emotional conversation.

He said, “Say honestly, DK brother, I don’t think he would ever think I would be the Indian Test captain. Just as I didn’t think. I just remember that when I was a small child, I just wanted to play for India. I wanted to perform for India and win the match. It was not even in my dreams that ‘Oh, I want to be the captain of the Indian cricket team.’ My dream was that I could represent India and win the match for India.
Shubman further said, “When this news came, he called me, I think I knew a few days ago but did not tell them. I was thinking, when it would be official, I will tell them but when they came to know that I have been made captain, we had a very emotional conversation.”
