When Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi took over the reins of the Test team, he was just 21 years, 77 days old at that time. He played the first Test under his captaincy against West Indid in Bridtown on 23 March 1962. The name of Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar comes at number two. He took charge of the Test team at the age of 23 years, 169 days. He started his captaincy against Australia on 10 October 1996 in New Delhi.

Kapil and Shastri are also in the list
The third name in this list is of Kapil Dev, known as Haryana Hurricane. After winning the ODI World Cup in 1983, he was also handed over the captaincy of the Indian Test team. India played the first Test under the captaincy of Kapil Dev on 23 February 1983 against the West Indies in Kintal. At that time, Kapil Dev was 24 years old, 48 days. Ravi Shastri was also given the command of the Test team at the age of 25 years, 229 days. He led India for the first time in red ball cricket against West Indies in Chennai on 11 January 1988.

Shubman Gill will be the 37th captain
When Shubman Gill goes to the field to toss against England in Leeds on June 20, 2025, he will be 25 years, 258 days old. Shubman Gill will be the 37th captain of India in Test cricket. He will take over as the new Test captain of India in place of Rohit Sharma.
