New Delhi. In the Indian Premier League on Wednesday, the Punjab Kings team defeated Chennai Super Kings and ended all the expectations of its playoffs. Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s team scored 190 runs while batting first, which Punjab got in 19.4 overs losing 6 wickets. With this victory, where the Punjab team reached the second number on the points table with 13 points, Chennai was out of the tournament. Punjab captain Shreyas Iyer was fined due to the slow over rate in the match.
Punjab Kings captain Shreyas Iyer was fined by BCCI on Wednesday. His team maintained a slow over speed during the IPL 2025 match against Chennai Super Kings at MA Chidambaram Stadium. Iyer -led Punjab was sentenced during the match, as he was allowed only four fielders outside the circle for the 20th over. On-field umpires Akshay Totre and Anish Sahasrabuddhe admitted that they were behind in over pace.
A statement by the IPL said, “This is the first mistake of his team this season, which comes under Article 2.22 of the IPL Code of Conduct. It is related to the minimum over speed crimes, hence Iyer was fined Rs 12 lakh.”
Iyer scored his fourth half -century of IPL 2025 and scored 72 runs in 41 balls. Five fours and four sixes hit in this innings. Iyer said after the match, “I like to chase on any ground. I think when you have a big score on the board and you have to take charge and Momentum for the rest of the team’s batsmen, I do well.”
