Politician and writer Shashi Tharoor has said that Sarfaraz Khan has performed so well in the domestic circuit that he should not be excluded from India’s main team for the upcoming five -match Test series against England. He said that after the retirement of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, India needs new players. Despite Kohli’s recent retirement, Sarfaraz fell behind in the middle-order race and had to be content in the India A team. He made a big statement by scoring 92 runs in the first informal Test against England Lions in Cantorbury.
On Saturday night, there were reports that Sarfaraz retired out after scoring 101 runs in India’s Intra-Squad game, in which he played for India A. “Why this quality player is excluded? There is no point. I think we should give us a chance now, we have lost great players like Rohit and Virat one after the other, so we need new young blood for the next two years, who have done well.”
Sarfaraz also had to wait long for his international debut. India will start its new WTC bicycle with a five -match series, in which the newly appointed captain will play under the captaincy of Shubman Gill. India last played red-ball cricket against Australia during the Sydney Test in January. Many cricketers in the current team, including Yashasvi Jaiswal and Sai Sudarshan, will play their first Test series on England soil. India is playing a four-day Intra-Squad Warm-up match against India A in Bekenham, which started on Friday.
