New Delhi: Former Sri Lankan off -spinner Sachitra Senanayake has been convicted by the Hambantota High Court of match fixing. Sachitra Senanayake has been proved by an attempt to woo a fellow player for match fixing during the 2020 Lanka Premier League (LPL). The Department of Attorney General said that this is the first such indictment on the national level cricketer for match fixing under the recently implemented corruption law of the country.

The 40-year-old played a Test, 49 ODIs and 24 T20 Internationals for Sri Lanka between 2012 and 2016 and took 78 wickets in total. He was a member of Sri Lanka’s 2014 T20 World Cup winning team.
