Sachin Tendulkar has spoken to officials of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and England Cricket Board (ECB) to maintain Pataudi’s legacy in the Indo-England Test series.

Both cricket boards decided to name the upcoming Indo-England Test series Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy after the ECB’s decision to retire the Pataudi Trophy. However, there was tremendous opposition to this decision and Tendulkar himself has intervened to save Pataudi heritage.

According to media reports, ECB has accepted Sachin’s request and is preparing a plan to provide a medal in the name of late MAK Pataudi to the winning captain. An ECB official has admitted that yes, the England-India series confirmed to maintain Pataudi connections in the series.

Pataudi Trophy from 2007The E Pataudi Trophy came into existence in 2007 to celebrate India’s 75th anniversary of its first Test in 1932. Pataudi became the youngest Indian Test captain at the age of 21. His father Iftikhar Ali Khan Pataudi represented both England and India.

Why was the name of Tendulkar-Anderson named Sachin Tendulkar holds the record for playing the highest 200 Test matches and scoring 15,921 Test runs. At the same time, James Anderson announced his retirement from Test cricket in the last year. Anderson is the second highest 188 Test player. He is the third highest 704 wicket bowler in Tests.

First Test will be played in Leeds on 20 June Five Test matches will be played between India and England. The first Test will begin in Leeds from 20 June, while the final Test will be played from 31 July at The Oval, London. India could not win the Test series in England after 2007. In such a situation, the team will be eyeing winning the series.
