In February 2025, Rajat Patidar was announced to be the captain of Royal Challengers Bangalore. On Thursday (May 29), he made a special achievement by joining the list of MS Dhoni, Anil Kumble, Rohit Sharma and Hardik Pandya. Patidar became the fifth Indian captain to reach his first year in the final of the IPL. Under the captaincy of Patidar, RCB defeated Punjab Kings by 8 wickets in the first qualifier of IPL 2025 and made it to the finals.
