New Delhi. The 2025 edition of the Indian Premier League will be remembered for many things- RCB finally ended the title drought, the miraculous performance of Punjab Kings and young stars like Sai Sudarshan and Vaibhav Suryavanshi made headlines. But amidst these ups and downs, another story was running parallel, the average of some of the biggest names of the league was worse than the average.
Large names mostly hurt, poor form and some made the case worse by making strange strategy. Whether it is a player with a mega deal of 27 crores or an aging veteran, there were many players whose high shop was found completely faded. A playing XI of such players can be prepared.
The interesting thing with the tall shop team is that the left -handed players will be seen in the entire top order of this team. There was a possible option between Rachin Ravindra and another left -handed player Devon Conway. But we chose Rachin, from which CSK was expected to be an ex-factor at the top, but his 191 runs in 8 matches could hardly have any impact. He was completely excluded from the team. Despite two big innings, Ishan Kishan faded in the rest of the tournament, causing SRH to top. He initially scored a century and scored 94 runs in his final innings against RCB. In the middle, his performance was extremely poor, which showed SRH’s disappointing campaign. In addition to his two 50+ scores, Kishan scored 154 runs in 12 innings, Rishabh Pant returned with great expectations and tags of ₹ 27 crore in LSG. But with just a big innings (118*), the rest of his season was full of failures. Prior to the century saving his campaign, Pant scored just 151 runs at a terrible average of 13.72. His strike rate of 107.09 was also very bad. Venkatesh Iyer also proved to be expensive in KKR, he was able to score only 142 runs before sitting on the bench.
Two foreign stars came in IPL 2025 – Liam Livingstone and Glenn Maxwell. Despite their T20 records, both disappointed. Maxwell’s 48 runs were particularly bad in 7 matches for PBKS, especially when they reached the final without their help. When they were out due to injury, Livingstone did not even help RCB. With 112 runs at a bad average of 16.
Dhoni’s name is the captain of the flop team, whose batting form has declined significantly. He scored 196 runs with a slow pace (135.17) and his impact as a finisher was almost negligible this year. Even during the run-chase, he used to drop himself at number nine, due to which he would become a burden for some time. In bowling, Rashid Khan was disappointing this season according to his standards- 9 wickets at an average of 57.4 in 15 matches. While Mohammed Shami and Mohit Sharma looked more expensive in bad form, the ball rarely looked dangerous. Ishant Sharma could also make any impact.
