New Delhi: When the time is going bad, they also turn their face. In bad times, a person recognizes himself and the strangers. Mohammed Shami is currently standing at such a delicate turn of his career and life. Between increasing age, neither fitness nor form is with them.
In IPL 2025, Mohammed Shami was completely out of form. Only six wickets came in his share nine matches. Not only this, he has not been included in the Indian team for the upcoming Test series of five matches to be held in England. In such bad times, a ‘outsider’ has come in his support.

Vitori defended Shami and told reporters, ‘He had not played T20 cricket for a long time, so it always takes some time to get back and obviously the game has moved forward very fast in the last 18 months. When he played for the Gujarat Titans last time, he was a purple cap winner, so I think he has to maintain continuity in challenging performance for him. I think he is at his best level when he puts a ball at that length and perhaps he was not at the best level we have seen in the past.
Vetori said, “I know that he had worked hard and he was desperate to perform well, but it was not his session, but there is no reason that he could not return as a bowler looking at his level as a bowler.”
