- Stark says that rumors also played a role in not coming to India
New Delhi. Fast bowler Mitchell Starc has broken the silence when he did not return to India after India Pakistan War. Stark has clarified that he is committed to his franchise Delhi Capitals. He has said that whatever the result of his not returning after 10 days of IPL break, he is loyal to his franchise. 26 civilians were killed in a terrorist attack in Pahalgam in Jammu and Kashmir. In response to this, the Indian armed forces run the military operation ‘Operation Sindoor’ targeting the camps of terrorists in Pakistan. After this, this league had to be stopped for 10 days due to military conflict between the two countries.
This left -arm fast bowler said, ‘The time will tell what will be the result or what will be with those players who do not return. However, before that match, I had some questions and concerns in my mind. Obviously we saw what happened. That incident played an important role in my decision. Stark said that for these reasons he had decided not to visit Pakistan for the Champions Trophy with the Australian team earlier this year. He said, ‘My decision on the Champions Trophy (in Pakistan) was somewhat the same thing and then when the tournament (IPL) was delayed, you start thinking about the preparation of the Test match.’
‘I decided not to do so’
He was referring to Australia’s World Test Championship final to be played against South Africa at Lord’s from 11 June. Stark said that things were handled in different ways for different players and teams in Dharamshala. Both teams had returned to Delhi by special train from Pathankot along with Broadcasting Team. He said, ‘Things were handled differently for different players and teams. There were also people associated with the Punjab team in Dharmashala. The Punjabi players decided to return to the league but Jake (Fraser-Macgark) and I decided not to do so.’
‘I discussed the house and then reached this decision’
Stark said, “This was a very personal decision. Whatever results, I will be happy to move forward with him.” He said, ‘I am still very committed to the franchise of Delhi. I am not a person who withdraws from the league after the auction. These are different circumstances. Last year, Stark, who was part of the Kolkata Knight Riders’ IPL winning team, said that lack of information was also one of the reasons, due to which he decided. He said, ‘I also played a role in not getting enough information in this decision. I discussed the house and then could reach this decision, whatever results I am ready to accept it easily and move forward.
