BCCI has asked the IPL franchise to release South African players playing in the World Test Championship (WTC) by 26 May. The board said- ‘South African players will have to return home by Monday 26 May. West Indies players will be available throughout the tournament.
A day earlier, the Indian Board interacted with several foreign boards including Cricket South Africa regarding the availability of players. However, Cricket South Africa refused, citing the WTC final. The African team has to play the final of the World Test Championship against Australia at Lord’s from 11 June.
BCCI told the franchise that West Indies players will be available for the remaining matches of IPL. These matches were suspended last week due to the India-Pakistan military conflict. After the ceasefire announcement, the remaining matches of the IPL start from May 17. The final match of this season will be held on June 3, which was to be held on 25 May.
