New Delhi. Along with the victory over Punjab Kings of Royal Challengers Bangalore, Virat Kohli’s name has finally joined the trophy, which he was waiting for 18 years. RCB defeated Punjab by 6 runs in the final of IPL 2025. There was a historic celebration after this victory. Bangalore did not even sleep even as the night. But before that something happened in the match, on which Sunil Gavaskar raised questions on the umpires itself. The case was of running in the middle of Virat Kohli’s pitch. Gavaskar accused the umpires of ignoring Kohli’s dangerous running.

The run on which Virat Kohli was questioned is for the 12th over of RCB’s innings. When Kohli completed two runs fast off Yuzvendra Chahal. Sunil Gavaskar, who is doing a live commentary, said that this type of running can harm the pitch. Why Kohli was not warned,

Earlier, Punjab Kings won the toss at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad and called RCB for the first batting. It was difficult to set up a boundary, so Kohli tried to run the scoreboard by taking a single single and double. In the 12th over, he played the ball towards long-on and called the partner for the second run. Liam Livingstone somehow reached the non-strayer end with a dive.

Sunil Gavaskar immediately said that Kohli ran in the middle of the pitch. This is not right. Doing this causes damage to the pitch. He said, ‘Kohli is a fast running player among the wickets. As soon as he played the shot, he knew that it was two runs. After this, he raised the question and said. ‘An umpire will never stop them. See, they are running again in the middle of the pitch. Punjab Kings will bat in the second innings and it may suffer loss.

Apart from this pitch dispute, Virat Kohli’s way of batting also raised questions. His strike rate has been around 150 in this season, but in the final he adopted a more restrained method. Instead of large shots, focus on rotating strikes and giving more balls to power-hitters such as Phil Salt and Silver Patidar. When Kohli was dismissed by Ajmatullah Omrajai in the 15th over, he had only 43 runs in his name.
