During the captaincy of Virat Kohli, there were many changes in the team, at one time Shikhar Dhawan also had to bear the brunt of it. Many times he had to be out of the team due to poor performance. He recently told in an interview with Ranveer Allabia, why he was dropped from the team in many 2016. He recalled the most difficult phase of his career. During this, he also told that despite the injury, he played in a match.
Shikhar felt that he was taking a lot of pressure on himself to return to the team, after which he worked on changing his thinking and focused on being happy. He returned to the team on the basis of performance in the 2017 Champions Trophy but was rejoiced in 2018.
In an interview with Ranveer, Dhawan remembered the difficult times of his cricket career. He said that when Virat Kohli was the captain, there were constant changes in the team. He too had to be out of the team. He said about the Test played against New Zealand in 2016 in Kolkata and said that he was hurt, despite he played for the team. He was later dropped.

Dhawan told that he was in great increase during 2016, he realized that if the runs were not scored, he would have to be out of the team. He described that era as the most difficult time of his cricket career. He said, “I was very upset. I was out in the first innings against New Zealand, in the second innings, my hand broke due to the ball of Trent Bolt.”
Dhawan knew that if he did not play, he would be dropped from the team, so he decided to play despite the injury. He said, “I thought that I am already dead, so I should die completely.”
Shikhar Dhawan has now retired from all the formats of cricket. He played 34 Tests, 167 ODIs and 68 T20 matches in his 12 -year international career. In this, he scored 2315, 6793 and 1759 runs respectively.
