New Delhi: The winning captain of the five -Test match between India and England starting on June 20 will be awarded the Pataudi medal. The England and Wales Cricket Board had decided to change the five-match Test series between India and England from the Pataudi Trophy to Tendulkar-Anderson Trophy.
It was to be formally announced during the World Test Championship final at Lord’s last week, but it was postponed in view of the horrific accident of Air India aircraft in Ahmedabad. Along with former India captain Sunil Gavaskar, some other people of the cricket world also criticized the name of this trophy.
The name of this royal family will remain in the cricket rivalry of these two countries. The Pataudi family has a deep connection with the cricket of both countries. Jai Shah was also involved in this discussion. The ECB has agreed to give the Pataudi medal to the winning captain, agreeing on the request.
Why was Tendulkar-Anderson named?
