Australian star all -rounder Glenn Maxwell has retired from ODI (ODI) cricket. His ODI career was 13 years old. 36 -year -old Maxwell represented Australia in 149 ODIs, scoring 3,990 runs and took 77 wickets. His strike rate was 126.70. However, he will continue to play T20 International.

Maxwell made his ODI debut for Australia in 2012. He was also a part of the 2015 and 2023 World Cup winning teams. 201* against Afghanistan in the 2023 World Cup.

Announcing retirement on Monday, Maxwell said, I felt that I was a little disappointing the team, because my body is not in this position now that can meet the demands of this format.

Talked to Bailey during the Champions Trophy Maxwell made up his mind to leave ODI in March itself. During the Champions Trophy, he told Australia Chief Selector George Bailey that he would not think 2027 World Cups would be played.

Maxwell said, I think the time has come to start planning it to take my place. Try to achieve this opportunity and make that place your own for the 2027 World Cup. Hopefully they will get such a chance in advance that they can succeed in that role.

Last ODI of Career played against India The Champions Trophy semi -final was the last match of his ODI career against India. Maxwell was bowled by Akshar Patel by scoring 7 runs in the match played in Dubai on 4 March. Maxwell was part of Punjab Kings in IPL 2025 but has been ruled out of the tournament due to injury.
