New Delhi. South African players will not be able to play for their franchisees in the IPL playoffs. The Indian Cricket Board directed all the franchisees to release South African players playing in the World Test Championship by 26 May. Due to which these cricketers will not be available for IPL playoffs. In the consultation sent to the teams, the BCCI also said that West Indies players will be available for the remaining IPL matches which were suspended last week due to the India-Pakistan military struggle.
After the announcement of the ceasefire, it was decided to resume the IPL from May 17, while the final will now be held on June 3, which was to be held on 25 May, which caused a confrontation in international commitments of South Africa, England and West Indies players. The BCCI interacted with foreign boards including CSA (South Africa Cricket) over the availability of players, but the South Africa cricket institution did not show softening in view of the WTC finals against Australia at Lord’s from 11 June.

It has to be mentioned here that all six teams of South Africa’s major T20 League are owned by the IPL franchise. South Africa is to go to Britain on 31 May while the play-off will start from May 29, and the same date will also begin a series of England’s domestic white ball against the West Indies. The BCCI told the teams in an official message, ‘South African players will have to return to South Africa by Monday 26 May. West Indies players will be available throughout the tournament.
Triston Stabs (Delhi Capitals), Vian Mulder (Sunrisers Hyderabad), Cagiso Rabada (Gujarat Titans), Corbin Bosch (Mumbai Indians), Ryan Ricelton (Mumbai Indians), Marco Yansen (Punjab Kings), Lungi Angidi (RCB), Eight South African (RCB), Aden Marrank (Lucknow Super Giants), including those teams. Can adversely affect which is in the play-off race.
Risers Hyderabad has ‘released’ the Mulder early as they have already been out and there is a possibility that the markram can also be released after the league phase as Lucknow is unlikely to reach the play-offs of Super Gynts. But Yansen has done an impressive performance for Punjab Kings and the same applies to Mumbai Indians opener Ryan Riclton. Stabs is an important member of Delhi Capitals and also fast bowler Cagiso Rabada for Gujarat Titans. Gujarat Titans will also miss the services of Jose Butler running in form, which are going to be out of the play-off in view of playing for England.
