All -rounder Mehdi Hasan Miraj was appointed as the ODI captain of Bangladesh for a year on Thursday. He will take command of the team for the first time in the three -match series to be held in Sri Lanka next month.

New Delhi. All -rounder Mehdi Hasan Miraj was appointed as the ODI captain of Bangladesh for a year on Thursday. He will take command of the team for the first time in the three -match series to be held in Sri Lanka next month. Mehdi will handle the ODI team from Najmul Hussain Shunto, who will remain the Test captain. Litton Das will continue to lead Bangladesh in T20.
In a statement issued by Bangladesh Cricket Board, 27 -year -old Mehdi said, “It is a great honor for me to be assigned to me by the board.” Mehdi has played 105 ODIs since his debut in March 2017, scoring 1,617 runs and has also taken 110 wickets with the help of two centuries and six half -centuries.
Mehdi said, “It is the dream of any cricketer to lead the country and I am grateful for the trust shown by the board on me. I have full faith in this team. We have the talent and trust of playing fearless cricket. I want us to perform with confidence and continue to play our best for the country without any hindrance.
