London. The launch of Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy given to the winners of India and England Test series has been averted. This delay in the launch of the trophy was due to the plane crash in Ahmedabad. 275 people died in this accident. There were more than 50 British citizens among them. This Air India aircraft was going to London and crashed only a few minutes after flying.
An official of the Cricket Board of India (BCCI) said, “The unveiling of the ATT Trophy (earlier to be launched on 14 June) has been delayed due to a recent accident in Ahmedabad. It has not been canceled. It is expected that the trophy will be unveiled before the series starts. The name of this trophy was changed in honor of two great players of these two countries in honor of England fast bowler James Anderson and Indian batsman Sachin Tendulkar. Five Test matches will be played in this series starting on June 20 in Leeds.
It has also been learned that the BCCI has requested the ECB to maintain their relationship with the series by establishing a personal honor in the name of Pataudi. According to sources, Tendulkar and ICC Chairman Jai Shah want Pataudi’s contribution to Indian cricket, keeping his legacy in mind.
