New Delhi. The Indian cricket team will go on a long time after Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli on England tour. The team will be accompanied by two veteran players Jaspreet Bumrah and Ravindra Jadeja. Shubman Gill has been made the Test captain of the team. Rohit Sharma announced his retirement from the Test just before the tour. After this, Virat Kohli also said goodbye to the format. Now everyone’s eyes are on all -rounder Ravindra Jadeja. He wishes that he retires only after captaining the test.
Star all -rounder Ravindra Jadeja has expressed his desire for the Indian cricket team’s Test captaincy. The 36 -year -old cricketer from Jamnagar was asked which one of the cricketing achievements he wanted to get before his retirement, he expressed his desire to captain Team India. This experienced player, who played 80 Tests, 204 ODIs and 74 T20 matches, has never captained India.
Jadeja said on former Indian spinner Ravichandran Ashwin’s YouTube show ‘Kutti Stories with Ash’, “There is only one thing left, Test captaincy. The rest has achieved everything. Test captain and India’s captain is a very big thing.”
Ashwin retired from all the formats of international cricket in December last year. Like Jadeja, he did not get a chance to captain India in any format despite playing at the top level for 15 years. Ashwin and Jadeja captained Punjab Kings and Chennai Super Kings but did not get much success in the IPL.
Ashwin supports Jadeja
Ashwin had said during a conversation with former Tamil Nadu opener Vidyut Shivaramakrishnan on his YouTube channel, Rohit Sharma announced his retirement from Test cricket on 7 May after which Ashwin supported Jadeja to make Jadeja the new captain of the Indian Test cricket team. “First of all everyone is saying that Gill is the captain. Everyone is going in the same direction. But Jasprit Bumrah is a strong option, and why do we forget Ravindra Jadeja?”
