New Delhi. Shubman Gill was appointed as the captain of the Indian team on Saturday while Rishabh Pant will be his vice -captain. The new World Test Championship session will begin with the tour of England next month. Former Indian spinner Harbhajan Singh said that the new Test captain Shubman Gill will have to lead in the absence of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma, but the youth team should not be assessed so soon.

Harbhajan welcomed Gill’s selection as captain but said that there are many challenges ahead. Harbhajan told PTI during the launch of the TV show ‘Hu is the Boss’ on Sunday, “It is definitely a great step to be a young captain like Shubman Gill who has done well in franchise cricket.”

He said, “But it is going to be a difficult tour. England has never been an easy tour. This is a young team. There are no Virat Kohli or Rohit Sharma, suddenly a big emptiness has come in that team and it also needs to be filled, so Shubman will have to move forward. ,

Harbhajan said that Gill’s team should be given time. He said, “I would also like to tell people that even though this tour is not favorable to them, they do not start assessing quickly.” Even if they do not win, it does not matter because they will learn from it. I am confident that all the players going on this tour will perform better.
